Henrik Nilsson was born 1971 in Malmö, Sweden where he also resides. His poetry debut book Utan skor was published in 1993 and was considered “one of the most promising and exciting poetry debuts in recent years”, by the Stockholm newspaper Svenska Dagbladet. Since then he has published prose and poetry, which has been translated to several languages in books, anthologies and magazines. 

Hispanic and lusophone literature, culture and history are among his specialties. He lived several years in Lisbon, a city that is still an important place in his life. Another constant interest is Latin America, which he has written many essays about. He also has a particular interest in Romanian literature and culture. 

He contributes regularly with articles and essays in the magazines Axess, Karavan and Dixikon. The radio has been important in his writing life, and he has contributed for many years in the program Obs and Tankar för dagen in the national Swedish Radio P1. 

He translates poetry from Spanish and Portuguese, for example Fernando Pessoa, Lêdo Ivo and Elsa Cross. 

Henrik Nilsson has participated in literary festivals in several countries, among them Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Peru, Colombia, Turkey, Romania and Sweden.
